Life Transitions: They Happen To The Best Of Us!

While sitting in my office a few weeks ago I found myself thinking about transitions. As a therapist I frequently work with clients struggling with various areas of transition such as, children leaving the home, a divorce, care for an elderly parent or the loss of a job or career. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines transition as, “1  a passage from one state, stage, subject or place to another and 2. A movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage or style to another; 3. An abrupt change in energy state or level, usually accompanied by loss or gain of energy.

Often we try to prepare ourselves when we believe that it is our desire to make the change, to start the journey.  In your mind you envision your home with the children gone, your new life after the divorce, the freedom you will have after you leave that job that began to dislike. The pace seems manageable, although fears rise in the background, the passage seems possible.  Suddenly, plans change, a sense of loss begins to fill up the space once occupied by optimism and possibility.

Coaching, an affordable, effective alternative to traditional therapy may offer the support needed to manage the transition for  your best life. For more information
